What to do in the garden in January

What to do in the garden in January? January is the start of the new garden season and even if the weather isn’t good enough to go in the garden, you can still do some web garden planning.

You could start by selecting your potatoes for the coming season. If you’re already ahead of the game you can get on with chitting your first early potatoes.  Force rhubarb plants, clear up your perennial borders, prune your apple and pear trees, plant bare-root roses, brush off heavy snow from your hedges and conifers, continue to plant trees and shrubs and more.

Order your bags of compost so that it’s ready to spread on the garden in a few weeks.
