Known for its compact growth habit and early flowering compared to other wisteria kinds, wisteria ‘Jissai’ is a somewhat uncommon but extremely sought-after variety of wisteria. Beautiful, fragrant blooms that develop in late spring to early summer are the reason this particular variety is highly valued. The flowers, which have a delightful delicate lavender-blue colour and are exhibited in shorter racemes than those of the more classic wisteria, give any garden a peaceful, charming appearance.
 
‘Jissai’ is a dwarf wisteria variety that grows more slowly than many others. It can be trained to grow on arbours, trellises, or even as a free-standing shrub with regular trimming and assistance.
