A garden-worthy variety of the Mexican Sunflower that is much more compact and usable than its cousins. ‘Fiesta del Sol’ is the first ever dwarf variety of Mexican Sunflower. These half-hardy annuals deserve to be more widely grown as their abundant orange flowers have an intense colour saturation that absolutely sizzles from summer until autumn. The flowers are about 7-9cm in diameter and resemble dahlias but are held on distinctively flared, hollow stems. The compact proportions of ‘Fiesta de Sol’ make it perfectly suited for the middle of the border without requiring any staking. Alternatively, it can be grown in a large container to make a striking patio feature. The orange flowers are attractive to butterflies and stand out well against bushy, bright green foliage. They make great cut flowers – simply ensure the stems are seared after cutting. Height 75cm (30in). Spread:  60cm (24in).
