Thuja orientalis ‘Aurea Nana’ is a compact, slow-growing evergreen conifer admired for its finely textured foliage and glowing golden-yellow colouring. Naturally forming a neat, conical shape, it brings year-round brightness and structure to the garden, particularly on sunny days. Its tidy habit and architectural presence make it an excellent choice for borders, low hedging, rock gardens or statement containers in both formal and informal settings.
This thuja thrives in a sunny to lightly shaded position and prefers well-drained soil, adapting well once established and tolerating a range of garden conditions. It pairs beautifully with plants that enhance its golden hues and compact form, such as Juniperus squamata ‘Blue Star’ for cool contrast or Lavandula angustifolia ‘Hidcote’ for fragrance and softness. Ornamental grasses like Festuca glauca create a balanced, visually rich planting. To maintain its shape, only minimal care is needed: lightly trim in late spring or early summer if required, and remove any dead or damaged growth to keep the plant looking dense and well-defined.
Supplied in approx. 2-3 litre containers.
