Another relative of the common Lilac, the formally named ‘Mrs Kim’, it is deciduous with dark green crinkly edged leaves.
In spring purple buds form and they move on to open up into spikes pale purple flowers that fade to white with age. This flowering quality is added to by their beautiful fragrance that is to be enjoyed by both humans and pollinating insects.
Grow ‘Miss Kim’ in a sunny spot, she will tolerate a wide range of soils and aspects but will not enjoy having her roots sat in excessive water. Mulch around the base each spring and maybe feed with a potash fertiliser to encourage heavy flowering.
Plant this beautiful tree near a seating area so you can enjoy its fragrance in the spring.
