A re-selected heirloom variety producing masses of long stems of large, frilled flowers. The combination of shades within each flower is breath-taking. Height 1.8m. Scent 2. Spring is the time that most people think of sowing their sweet peas (Lathyrus odoratus) without realising that traditionally, they used to be sown in the autumn for early summer flowering the following year. They will flower from late May onwards. The benefit of autumn sowing, apart from earlier flowering, is in the fact that larger, more robust plants are produced, resulting in better flowering performance. They are quite hardy, and will grow through the winter with a minimum of protection. Try Suttons ‘tried and tested’ selection – you won’t be disappointed!
