Squash ‘Guatemalan Blue Banana’ is a remarkable heirloom winter squash prized for its unusual elongated shape, beautiful blue-grey skin and exceptionally sweet yellow-orange flesh. This variety boasts a unique, rich flavour that is perfect for roasting, baking, soups, curries and purees. Weighing 4-8kg, its excellent keeping qualities and distinctive appearance make it a favourite with both gardeners and cooks.
‘Guatemalan Blue Banana’ thrives in full sun and moist, well-drained soil. It matures in around 100-120 days and produces generous harvests on its trailing vines. Water regularly during dry spells and feed with a high-potash fertiliser once fruits begin to develop to encourage the best yields. Allow plenty of space for the vines to spread, and harvest fruits before the first frosts for optimum flavour and storage life.
Combining visual appeal and excellent culinary quality, this heirloom squash is a superb addition to any vegetable garden or allotment.
Supplied in approx. 9cm pots.
