A lovely Japanese pear variety, known for its sweet and rich flavoursome fruits. This variety produces medium to large sized bronze pears, ready for harvesting from mid-July to September. These trees are heavy cropping, with an impressive growth habit and is one of the most disease resistant varieties available. This species is excellent for wildlife, attracting bees as well as many other beneficial insects. A versatile deciduous tree, this Japanese pear looks great in container planting on a patio or terrace and can thrive in a border. ‘Shinko’ grows up to a maximum height of 4 metres in 10 years but can be easily kept small with pruning.
To get the best crop from this pear tree it must be planted in well-drained soil and placed in a bright area accessing either full sun or partial shade.
