Pulsatilla vulgaris ‘Alba’ is a refined spring-flowering perennial admired for its silky, cup-shaped white blooms held above, fern-like foliage. Each flower opens to reveal a bright golden centre, creating a fresh, luminous contrast that brings a gentle elegance to rock gardens, gravel planting and the front of borders, where it adds early interest with a natural, alpine character.
This white swan pasque excels in a sunny, open position with well-drained, gritty or sandy soil, where it will develop strong flowering stems year after year. It combines beautifully with plants that share its preference for good drainage and enhance its light colouring, such as Saxifraga paniculata ‘Aizoon’ or spring bulbs like Crocus and Muscari for layered seasonal interest. To maintain the plant, avoid disturbance once established, remove spent flowers if desired, and allow the attractive seed heads and foliage to die back naturally before tidying in late summer.
Supplied in approx. 1 litre containers.
