The Tibetan Cherry Tree, or Prunus Serrula Tibetica, is a magnificent ornamental tree that is prized for its remarkable bark and year-round appeal. Its glossy, mahogany-red bark, which peels off to expose a polished, coppery sheen, is its most distinguishing characteristic. Even in the dead of winter, it gives the garden a deep, cosy glow. Clusters of tiny, white blooms flourish in the spring, drawing pollinators like bees. The tree’s new green leaves, which become vivid shades of yellow in the autumn, create a beautiful contrast to the bark.
Plant in full sun with well-drained, fertile soil. The Tibetan Cherry Tree is hardy and low-maintenance, requiring minimal pruning—simply remove any dead or crossing branches in late winter or early spring.
