Prunus insititia ‘Shropshire Prune’ is a typical English damson cultivar known for its rich, tangy taste and consistent cropping. It yields tiny, dark purple fruits with a blue bloom, which are ideal for creating jams, jellies, wines, and preserves. The fruits mature in late summer to the beginning of autumn and have a strong, old-fashioned taste that mellows nicely when cooked.

Shropshire Prune is hardy and simple to grow in well-drained, fertile soil with full light.  It is largely self-fertile but will produce more if a suitable pollinator is nearby. Minimal trimming in late summer helps the tree stay healthy and fruitful.

Supplied as strong bare root trees.
