Ornithogalum nutans, also known as the drooping Star of Bethlehem, produces elegant arching stems adorned with silvery-white, star-shaped flowers in late spring. These delicate, bell-like blooms have a subtle green sheen on the reverse, giving them a unique, shimmering appearance that’s especially effective in naturalistic or woodland-style plantings.
Plant the bulbs 8–10 cm deep and around 8 cm apart in well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. Once established, this perennial is low-maintenance and can naturalise beautifully over time.
