A classic grape vine for cooler climates, our Noir Grape Vine (Vitis vinifera) is a vigorous and rewarding fruit plant, a go-to choice for UK gardeners. Producing an abundant crop of juicy grapes from summer into autumn, this plant is ideal for growing against sunny walls, pergolas or trellises. Suitable for eating fresh, juicing or winemaking, it also provides attractive foliage that develops rich autumn colour, making it a beautiful and productive addition to the garden.
‘Noir’ thrives in warm, sunny, sheltered positions with fertile, well-drained soil. Water regularly during dry spells, particularly while establishing and as the fruit develops, and prune annually in winter to encourage healthy growth and reliable crops. Companion plants such as lavender or climbing roses can create a Mediterranean-inspired planting scheme. Ideal for courtyards, kitchen or south-facing gardens, where warmth and shelter help maximise production and flavour.
