Leucothoe Fontanesiana Makijaz – Switch Ivy

This plant is  truly wonderful! In Spring, the new shoots are bronze and pink in colour before aging to green with white markings. Makijaz also puts on a show in the autumn with its burgundy evergreen foliage.
It is a perfect plant as a filler in the garden or as a feature on its own, we’ve seen it teamed up as a wonderful back drop to brightly coloured Midwinter Fire Dogwoods, which makes for a magnificent combination in the winter garden. If you have a troublesome shady area, this could also be the solution, as these are quite tolerant of shade and will even grow under trees with just a smaller amount of dappled light.
For interest on the Patio in the duller months, plant in generous containers and keep as a feature in their own right, or team up with contrasting lighter colour plants
