Imperata cylindrica ‘Rubra’ is a real showstopper with a bold, artistic flair! This clump-forming grass starts with fresh mid-green leaves that gradually turn rich blood-red from the tips downwards, creating a stunning flame-like effect through the season.
Its dramatic colouring is perfect for contemporary, gravel and Japanese-style gardens, bringing a unique contrast to both borders and containers. It looks amazing next to golden, blue or dark-leaved grasses and perennials. Plant in full sun in moist but well-drained soil, and cut back in early spring to encourage fresh, colourful growth year after year.
