Hydrangea quercifolia ‘Ice Crystal’

A more compact version of oak-leaved hydrangea that suits smaller gardens and containers, Hydrangea quercifolia ‘Ice Crystal’ only grows to just over a metre on maturity. This deciduous shrub bears white conical flower panicles from July to September against a background of deeply lobed foliage that takes on red and purple tones in the autumn. Oak-leaved hydrangeas are resilient, low-maintenance shrubs that require very little pruning and thrive in sun or light shade. They make excellent subjects for mixed borders or woodland areas and established specimens are more drought tolerant than Hydrangea macrophylla.
