Although the flowers aren’t fragrant, this is one of those plants that just begs you to bury your face in its soft pillowy blooms. A cross between a Mophead hydrangea and a Lace-cap, Hydrangea ‘Cloudi’ bears lace-cap flowers that are rounded like a Mophead. Like a Lace-cap, the blooms bear varying amounts of both small fertile flowers and large infertile ones but aren’t as flattened. Instead, they blossom into cloud-like, rounded panicles of white florets which gradually turn pastel blue or pink, depending on soil acidity. This strong-growing hydrangea holds its blooms on sturdy, upright stems which won’t flop after heavy wind and rain. Compact growing, its height can easily be restricted further by pruning, making it perfect for small borders and containers. Height and spread: 80-120cm (31-47in).  Useful links:How to grow hydrangeas
