A medium-sized, deciduous shrub, Hydrangea aspera ‘Sargentiana’ is a tough Hydrangea that tolerates more dryness than Mophead types, quickly growing into a spreading shrub with an open habit, clothed in large, dark green, velvety leaves. From July to September, it bears an abundance of large, but dainty, lace-cap flowers composed of small blue to purple inner florets surrounded by white outer florets. It makes an excellent understory shrub for shade in a woodland setting or at the back of a mixed border. However, it will also cope with sunnier sites providing it receives some shade during the hottest part of the day. RHS Award of Garden Merit. Height: 3m (10ft). Spread: 2m (6.5ft).Useful links:How to grow hydrangeas
