This hardy evergreen climber is a highly versatile variety, popular as a house plant and as an outdoor climber. It gets its name ‘Shamrock’ or ‘clover-leaf ivy’ from its amazing dark green variegated foliage which has pronounced light green veins. Mature plants may grow small yellow-green flowers in the autumn followed by black fruit and new growth is displayed on beautiful red stems. This vine can attach itself to stone or wood surfaces, so we recommend growing over a fence or trellis, but it is equally striking in a hanging basket or patio pot.
This ivy is easy to care for requiring well-drained soil of any structure or pH and can grow both indoors and outdoors. It will thrive in any light aspect with full-sun, full-shade, and partial shade all suiting its needs.
