Foeniculum vulgare ‘Purpureum’, also known as Bronze Fennel, is a striking perennial herb with feathery, aromatic foliage in rich bronze-purple tones. This tall, airy plant adds height and texture to borders, while its delicate, fern-like leaves provide year-round interest. In summer, it produces clusters of tiny, golden-yellow flowers that are highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators. Later in the season, its seeds develop, offering food for wildlife and a culinary spice with a sweet, aniseed flavour. A perfect choice for informal gardens, herb beds, and wildlife-friendly planting schemes.
Best in well-drained soil and full sun. Ideal for cottage gardens, herb gardens, and mixed borders. Cut back after flowering to encourage fresh foliage. Self-seeds freely, so remove seed heads if unwanted spread is a concern. Drought-tolerant once established.
Supplied in approx. 1 litre containers.
