Eschscholzia (also known as California poppies) is a rare summer poppy native to North America. Treasured for their magnificent shape and colour, our quality, established annuals are perfect for mixed borders, garden edges and cottage beds. ‘Thai Silk Pink Champagne’ features charming blooms in shades of soft cream and pale yellow, often with softly contrasting petals that shimmer in sunlight. Flowering from early summer until autumn, this compact variety creates a colourful and cheerful display while attracting beneficial pollinators. California poppies are traditionally associated with calming herbal preparations, and the petals can be used as a decorative edible garnish. Growing to approximately 25-35cm in height and spread, this compact, bushy variety is exceptionally easy to grow and thrives in sunny, well-drained positions. Once established, it is drought-tolerant and requires very little maintenance beyond occasional watering during prolonged dry spells. Deadheading spent flowers can encourage an even longer flowering season, although allowing some seed heads to develop may result in natural self-seeding for future displays. Pair with nigella and cosmos for a colourful, wildlife-friendly cottage garden display.
