Eschscholzia Californica Bush Rose – California Poppy

Eschscholzia (also known as California poppies) is a rare summer poppy native to North America. Treasured for their magnificent shape and colour, our quality, established annuals are perfect for mixed borders, garden edges and cottage beds. ‘Bush Rose’ produces an abundance of silky, cup-shaped blooms in beautiful shades of rose pink with soft cream centres, held above finely divided blue-green foliage. Flowering continuously from late spring through summer, traditionally, these poppies have been used in herbal remedies, particularly for their calming and relaxing properties.Growing to approximately 25-35cm in height and spread, this compact, bushy variety is exceptionally easy to grow and thrives in sunny, well-drained positions. Once established, it is drought-tolerant and requires minimal maintenance, with occasional watering during prolonged dry spells. Deadheading spent flowers can encourage a longer flowering season, though allowing some seed heads to develop can lead to natural self-seeding for future displays. Pair with nigella and cosmos for a colourful, wildlife-friendly cottage garden display.
