Dahlia ‘Sam Hopkins’ is a striking and dramatic addition to any collection. These deeply colored, rich crimson-maroon blooms have a velvet-like appearance that adds a touch of intensity to the garden. It is a fantastic decorative dahlia that provides a bold, sophisticated contrast throughout the summer and autumn months. Growing to a substantial height, it creates a powerful focal point and produces excellent, long-lasting cut flowers that look stunning in a vase.
To plant them, dig a hole at least 20-30cm square and around 20-30cm deep for each one. Cover the base of the hole with 10cm of compost or manure and give it a good dousing with a full watering can and then plant the dahlia at a depth of 15-20cm. It will need to be lifted in winter – once the foliage dies back simply dig it up and store in a cool, frost free location.
