Cytisus Lena – Broom

Cytisus ‘Lena’ is a compact, deciduous broom that bursts into life in late spring with masses of eye-catching, two-tone flowers in shades of deep reddish-pink and golden-yellow. These pea-like blooms cover the slender, arching green stems, creating a cheerful display that lights up borders, banks, and gravel gardens. Its fine-textured foliage and mounded form give it a neat appearance, making it ideal for smaller gardens or tight spaces in need of seasonal colour.
Hardy and drought-tolerant, ‘Lena’ thrives in poor, well-drained soil and full sun. It’s especially well-suited to low-maintenance or Mediterranean-style gardens and performs beautifully in coastal settings where other shrubs may struggle. Once established, it requires very little care, just a light prune after flowering to maintain its shape and encourage fresh growth.
