This is a truly spectacular architectural plant that makes a dramatic, magnificent specimen – perfect towards the rear of an herbaceous border.
Cynara Cardoon is closely related to the Artichoke and makes a dramatic statement with its arching, ghost-like, jagged, soft grey foliage. Once established, it is topped with stalks of striking, blue-violet, thistle-like flowers which are excellent for cutting and drying. Plus, the plant is also edible, the leaf stalks and midribs are tasty when blanched and the unopened flower heads can be eaten like artichokes.
For a stunning accent plant in the border, this one is hard to beat! Supplied in 2-3 litre containers.
