Cyclamen purple is a compact, jewel-like perennial prized for its stunning magenta-purple flowers held elegantly above attractively marbled, heart-shaped foliage. Blooming from autumn into winter, the swept-back petals create a refined, almost sculptural look that brings welcome colour and life to shaded areas when much of the garden is resting.
It performs best in a cool, sheltered position with partial shade and well-drained, humus-rich soil, making it ideal for containers, woodland borders, or underplanting shrubs. Suitable plant pairings include Helleborus orientalis and Helleborus niger, all of which complement its flowering season and enhance the layered texture of winter displays. Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering, keeping the compost just moist, to ensure strong regrowth and reliable blooms year after year.
