Cornus Alternifolia Golden Shadows – Golden Wedding Cake Pagoda Tree

A new form of Wedding Cake Tree, this Cornus alternifolia ‘Golden Shadow’ is a slow growing shrub or small tree with pretty golden-green variegated leaves. Once established it develops an eye-catching, tiered habit. The elegant structure of a beautiful pagoda dogwood with its distinctive colour and horizontal tiers and layers of branches really is a sight to behold – you can really see where the name wedding cake tree comes from!
The branches carry large heart-shaped leaves that are bright golden yellow and green with new growth flushes red-orange in cool conditions, and takes on a beautiful colouration at leaf fall too in the Autumn. Lacy white flowers are also produced in spring that add to the charm of this special tree. It is also useful as it will do well in dappled shade or woodland style planting.
