The dark-skinned chilli with a fiery edge, Capsicum annuum ‘Hungarian Black’, is a visually stunning variety, prized for its heat and colouring. The tapered fruits start early in a glossy black and mature to a deep red from mid to late summer. With a medium heat of around 5,000-10,000 Scoville units, they deliver a noticeable kick and are perfect for slicing into salsas or drying.
Plant in moist, well-drained, fertile soil in a sunny and sheltered position for optimal growth. Water regularly during dry periods and feed consistently to support flowering and fruiting, with light pruning to maintain airflow. A fantastic vegetable valued for its incredible ornamental appeal.
