Centaurea Ragusina Silver Swirl

Centaurea ragusina ‘Silver Swirl’ is a rare and beautiful evergreen perennial grown primarily for its beautifully textured, silvery-white foliage. Forming a dense mound of deeply lobed, velvety leaves, this drought-tolerant plant brings year-round structure, contrast and brightness to borders, gravel gardens and contemporary planting schemes. Its shimmering foliage provides the perfect foil for colourful flowering plants, while small yellow flowers may appear during summer, adding further seasonal interest.
Growing to around 30–60cm in height and up to 50-90cm in spread, ‘Silver Swirl’ is compact, easy to grow and exceptionally low maintenance. It thrives in poor to moderately fertile, well-drained soils and benefits from occasional trimming to remove any damaged foliage and maintain its neat, rounded shape. Avoid overly wet conditions, particularly in winter, as good drainage is essential for healthy growth. Plant in full sun where its silver foliage can truly shine, and pair with lavandula for a stunning drought-tolerant display packed with colour, texture and Mediterranean charm.
