Berberis Thunbergii Orange Ice

With its rich autumnal tones and compact form, Berberis thunbergii ‘Orange Ice’ is an excellent choice for low hedging, mixed shrub borders or as an accent plant. Its small, rounded leaves are packed along upright stems, matched with its fiery colour ‘Orange Ice’ adds interest and structure to borders throughout the growing season.
This berberis thrives in a sunny to lightly shaded position and prefers moist, but well-drained soil, where its foliage colour will be at its most intense and long-lasting. It works particularly well alongside plants that complement or contrast its warm tones, such as ornamental grasses like Pennisetum alopecuroides or evergreen structure from Buxus sempervirens. To maintain the plant, lightly prune after flowering or in late winter to keep its shape tidy and encourage fresh, colourful new growth each spring.
