Beet Plant – Leaf Swiss Chard is a highly productive and easy-to-grow variety from our hand-picked collection, valued for its broad, glossy green leaves and crisp ivory-white stems that can be harvested from late spring through to autumn. The attractive foliage remains fresh and vibrant for months, providing both ornamental appeal and a steady supply of delicious leaves. Swiss Chard is perfect for steaming, stir-fries, soups, and salads when picked young, but also works amazingly when planted in productive vegetable beds or decorative edible borders.
Thriving in full sun or partial shade, Swiss Chard performs best in fertile, moisture-retentive yet well-drained soil and benefits from a reasonably sheltered position. Regular watering during dry weather helps maintain tender stems and lush foliage, while occasional feeding will support continuous cropping. Harvest outer leaves individually when young and tender, allowing the central crown to continue producing fresh growth. Companion planting with nasturtium and lavender can help deter pests while creating a healthy and productive growing space.
