Anemanthele Sirocco – Pheasant’s Tail Grass

One of the best and most versatile evergreen grasses, Anemanthele ‘Sirocco’, commonly known as Pheasant’s Tail Grass, earns its name from its green, bronze, copper, orange and gold foliage. Forming elegant, arching fountains, this grass provides year-round movement, texture and ever-changing colour. Fine flower panicles appear in summer, adding further interest while the foliage remains attractive well into winter. Its vibrant colours and airy habit make it ideal for borders, gravel gardens, containers and mass plantings, particularly in contemporary, prairie-style and cottage garden settings.
Thriving in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil and a sunny or partially shaded position, Anemanthele ‘Sirocco’ is easy to grow and tolerant of a wide range of conditions once established. Plant with the crown at soil level and water regularly during its growing season to encourage strong root development. Continue watering during prolonged dry spells, particularly for container-grown specimens. Unlike many grasses, this variety generally requires little maintenance; remove any dead or damaged foliage in late winter or early spring to refresh the plant. Apply a balanced fertiliser in spring if needed.
